Dressing for four Seasons in one Day
Summer in the morning, autumn in the evening, winter at suppertime?!? The current meteorological trend of four-seasons-in-one-day-weather means that we keep getting caught out in the wrong clothes. Here are Whisty’s tips on how to dress for all seasons in one day, and still look stylish.
Key Pieces to Layer up

• A lightweight Parker (Khaki Green Parker, Topshop £58)
• Shorts or a short skirt (Ruffle Yellow Skirt, Topshop £32)
• Over the knee socks (Grey Knitted Socks, River Island £8)
• Ankle boots (Hi Top Metallic Wedges, Penneys €18)
• A big scarf (rummage in your wardrobe for an old favourite)
• Shades (Heart Burn Out Lens Sunglasses, ASOS £15)
• Chunky Chains, (Silver & Gold, Cross Skull Necklace, New Look £5.99)
• A pretty rucksack (Pink Floral Rucksack, AWear £25)
• A cropped top, (Black Lace Cropped Top, Forever 21 €15.90)
• A sheer jumper , (White and Gold Metallic Top, Dorothy Perkins £25) OR
• A denim or plaid shirt that can be tied around your waist, (Light Denim Shirt with star print pocket, Forever 21 €19.90)
Top Tips
• Layer smart by mixing spring and autumn pieces
• Choose sheer fabrics, which allow for layering without looking or feeling chunky
• Wear a pretty rucksack to carry the layers you shed; you don’t want to be holding the warmer clothes you’re not wearing.
• By choosing a stylish rucksack rather than a plain one, it’ll look like you’ve chosen it as part of your overall look
• Choose clever accessories, chunky chains, big scarves (that can be doubled up as a shawl to protect against chilly breezes) and shades for sunny moments.
• Clever accessories will also ensure that your outfit always looks carefully put together so even if you’re down to your last layer, you won’t look underdressed
• A lightweight Parka is your best friend, perfect against wind and rain but good for rolling up into your bag
• Mix pretty feminine separates with military-inspired masculine outerwear
• Don’t wear open toed shoes, soggy socks aren’t a good look; go with ankle boots. They’ll protect against rain and cold, but will look good with shorts and skirts
• Choose over knee socks, they’re warm when pulled up, but they can be slouched down around your ankle boots, or taken off completely and shoved in your rucksack if it gets too warm
• Note: If you are going to be throwing your stuff into a bag, it’s probably best not to wear your best clothes; … and there’s another reason to make sure you choose a Parka…
Yours, Whisty Xx
